Hello, I’m Amy Beeson. I’m a mum of two and I live in West London with my husband, writer Takbir Uddin and our two cats. I love escaping with a book, falling asleep in yoga, drinking tea and listening to The Archers, hosting writers events, and walking in the woods. If I get stuck, water is my unblocking element. I’m a Gemini (but don’t hold that against me).
I’m an author and I run Wordsby, a pocket-size agency specialising in co-creative branding and communications.
Most of my time is spent working on ideas in my Creative Pod which we built in the garden of our basement flat in the Summer of 2024. Though you don’t need a room of your own to write, as a busy working mum who started her business at the kitchen table in 2013, and has spent a considerable amount of time writing in cafes with a baby asleep in the buggy beside me, finally having my own space has transformed work for me.
I’ve recently co-founded a non-profit called The Story Pod for creative grassroots collaborations. We launched in March 2025 for Women’s History Month with a Women’s Memoir Writing Workshop and celebrated International Women’s Day with a Writing, Breathwork and Yoga Workshop.
As well as the Substack Meet Ups in West London I also host a Writers’ Circle and Writer’s Tutorials. The latest listings are on my Events page.
My publication is called I Need To Finish This Before I Die…because there is a lot I want to do in this life... usually all at the same time. You'll find a mixture of memoir, audio readings, branding tips and book chat in my posts. I’m working away on a new book and podcast too, and I’m going to asking about your reading and writing habits, if you care to share.
I’ve written three books, two memoirs The New Arrival and Our Country Nurse and edited a parenting book Happy Baby, Happy Family with my mum Sarah Beeson MBE all published by HarperCollins.
I wrote my first play when I was 16-years-old - I’ve written my whole life, but after my mum died suddenly in 2023, I couldn’t write for a year. Starting my Substack has been a slow process through grief, searching for who I am after loss, through writing and the creative community.

I’ll publish free listings for events I’m hosting and bits of memoir and branding advice.
