Come to the March Substack Meet Up in West London
āI canāt think of anyone more welcoming to writers and creatives than Amy Beesonā¦pop along if you can.ā Farrah Storr from Things Worth Knowing.
Book your place
Weāll be gathering on Wednesday 12 March 2025 from 7pm in Hammersmith. Your ticket includes one free drink on arrival (thatās any soft drink, Peroni, Corona, Meantime Pale Ale or Prosecco. The bartenders will have a list of guestsā names, but I usually fetch them anyway. When I got married, I told every guest exactly where they were sitting as they hugged me in the line up on the way into dinner). We then sit down together to chat for an hour or so. Lots of people order dinner or snacks and this is completely optional, last time we shared lots of small plates and it was fun and more affordable.
Iāll send all the information you need on directions and travel, timings and menus the day before we meet. Book your ticket now on for Ā£9.92 (the price covers your drink and processing fees).
Hello, Iām Amy Beeson a writer based in West London and soon to be podcaster from I Need To Finish Before I Die. This Meet Up is the third one Iāve hosted. The writers who came to our November 2024 and January 2025 events made it magical, itās been such a delight to meet Substackers and share their work. So, whether youāre new, been on the platform for a while or want to find out what peopleās experiences have been like so far, book a ticket and come along.
Free Tickets for Logophiles
If youāre a paid subscriber to I Need To Finish This Before I Die you can come for free and Iāll buy your first drink as a thank you. Drop me a DM to book your free place. (One drink in London is about three monthās subscription fee, itās a win, win).
Are you thinking, err, am I a logophile? Find out more about being part of my Logophiles community and check out my offers here.
Open Mic
We love hearing readings at the events. So far, weāve heard memoir, fiction and poetry. Itās a really supportive group and itās always nice to hear how others respond to your words.
If youāre interested in having one of the open mic spots and having the opportunity to read and discuss your work, please drop me a DM.
Readers from the January 2025 Event
read a piece of flash fiction around the theme of lost identity with a touch of surreal horror. It had us on the edge of our seats as we tried to figure out just what was happening. OcƩane is a writer and artist alongside juggling motherhood and a full-time day job. Her publication The Curious Magpie encourages playful creativity that invites us to dive into our artist journeys through weekly prompts. You can take part in her monthly Draw Together and Write Together session. Lucy Wadham read a poem and a piece of memoir from her Substack
on her experiences of living alone and the need to share her writing publicly despite all the vulnerability that entails. Lucyās work frequently features sketches and beautiful words with some hard-won truths from her life as a single mum to two young children.
