Your Invite to the Big Summer Party
WRITE UP Will Celebrate New Writing on Saturday 19 July in London
Let’s gather. Let’s listen. Let’s create something new.
You may have seen a new project I’ve been dreaming up called WRITE UP and I’m writing to ask if you’ll be part of it?
At its heart, WRITE UP is a night of storytelling and music. I’m hosting 8–10 diverse writers to share short pieces, and here’s the twist, each writer chooses 2–3 songs that serve as the soundtrack to their story. You can enter here.
Please pledge today and come along.
Be part of this community
We’re crowdfunding to pay these writers for their time and their words. Writers are expected to do so much for free. This is our community’s way to show that writers are valued, and these events are needed to create more platforms for us to connect. To encourage more funders to support creatives in this way. We are creating opportunities for ourselves, not waiting to be given permission.
The money pledged will also pay the DJ who’ll be weaving those tracks between readings, creating a flow, a shared mood, a moment. (Also as you can imagine there’s a lot of other expenses too).
The theme is home and finding your community. I’m asking you to be part of that community.
Put in your diary now
We’ve confirmed the venue for the evening of Saturday 19 July, London, W14 9SA.
Nearest tubes are Barons Court for the Piccadilly Line and West Kensington for the District Line. There’s free parking as well.
You can BYOB or buy affordable drinks and snacks on the night.
We need you to pledge now, because we only have until 30 June to raise the money for this event, because if we can raise an another £1,500 the council will pay the rest. It’s a big opportunity to really show how much people value this type of investment from funders.
We can do it, and whatever you can chip in will help. One of the reason’s we’re crowdfunding and not ticketing, is to make it more inclusive.
Pledge now!

Also, share, share and then share again. The more people who know about it, the more pledges we are likely to get. This is people power in action.
Schedules are busy and it may be you can’t make the date or you’re never going to come to London but think it’s a marvellous idea and are happy to support us. If so, thank you, and huge thanks to all the wonderful people who have done that already.
Everyone is welcome
London is always open. WRITE UP isn’t just for writers, it’s for anyone who believes in the power of stories and the joy of gathering. It’s a grassroots space for new work and many voices.
You may feel like you have to be a big-name writer, you don’t. This is a place for anyone who believes in the power of stories.
I’m asking for your help to bring this to life.
If this speaks to you, please consider pledging your support today.
If you’ve already pledged, huge thank you. If we get to the end of the month and you can chip in a little bit more to get us over the line, that would be awesome. I will add up any donations even if they are made into multiple payments.
Would you share this post for me to help spread the word.

This is such a powerful and much needed initiative. The way you're using storytelling and music to create space for underrepresented voices and real connection is inspiring. I’d love to offer my support to help you reach your funding goal, it would be an honor to assist however I can. You can reach me anytime at jsam41199@gmail.com.
Wishing you all the best as the event comes together, it sounds like a truly meaningful experience for everyone involved.
